This week, Camphor has been hard at work updating our user interface to provide some few exciting features to enhance property search for search.camphor.co! 🚀
A few key updates that we will cover this week:
- Maps overlays for property listings discovered
- Enhanced property filters for querying new properties
- Semantic search for ranking contextualized info about properties using MLS property descriptions
📍Mapping overlays for Property Discovery
A highly requested feature to our team has been the addition of more visuals! We’re excited to finally share that we now offer maps to all our users. 🎉
Our maps functionality includes all the the following:
- The ability to select a specific geographic region when you query and see the full list of property listings that meet your criteria.
- The ability to zoom in and out of specific neighborhoods you would like to search within
- The ability to toggle between a map interface and satellite imagery for all properties shown
If you click on a pin on the map, you will be able to see an address and click said address to open the corresponding report directly. No longer will you need to filter exclusively through a list and go through multiple pages in order to find a property.
Maps currently work on both desktop and mobile interfaces! Reach out to our team if you have any questions!
🏠New Interface for Property Filters
Another highly requested feature has been the ability to visually filter properties based on selected filters. How does it work?
When you search for a property on Camphor, we convert any specific parameters you mention into a query, and then, we run that query against our database to find listings that match your criteria. Now, when you run a search query, we expose all the filters you used in your request within our interface. You can now edit those parameters to discover new properties that meet a different set of criteria.
For example, let’s say you are looking for “properties in SF for less than $2M, built after 1980, with more than 3 beds, with median rent above $3250, and with a walk score above 80.” As a homebuyer, you realize that having a newer property is more important to you. You can now edit the filter for year built to be something more recent than 1980 - say 2010. Check out the demo below!
🔍 Semantic Search for Property Descriptions
Unlike any other property search engine on the market, Camphor is able to search for properties based on property descriptions. Descriptions are usually provided by a real estate agent when they list a property through their local Multiple Listings Services (MLS).
Why is this powerful? MLS listing descriptions usually contain valuable information on what makes the property unique. In the case of New York City condos, this would usually mean indicating that a property has a doorman, elevator, gym, or other amenities. They also contain more context on whether a property was recently renovated or updated in some way. They also help contextualize multifamily properties as either duplexes, triplexes, or quadplexes.
Now with semantic search having been added to Camphor, you can search for properties based on keywords such as “luxury condos”, “properties with a doorman”, or “I want to look at duplexes specifically”.
